Why does gratitude matter?
Studies show that people who express gratitude regularly are happier, healthier, and more motivated to do good work. Expressing gratitude 3 times per day is a better predictor of happiness than winning the lottery. Gratitude brings communities together and amplifies the voices of people who are making positive social change when it’s most needed.
What’s a SuperThank?
SuperThank Portland is a nonprofit that exists to promote radical community gratitude for stuff that matters. We’re volunteers who put on events, put out a podcast and put in the energy and time that it takes to make sure that people and organizations don’t go unthanked when they do great work. We’re a group of friends that meets twice a month to advance our mission and enjoy each other’s company.
Ok, so what does a Gratitude Organizer do?
You join a team of fellow organizers to help put on our live events, create and promote our podcast and spread the word about everything that we do. We’re a flexible group of people, and everybody wears multiple hats. This means that there are a variety of ways for you to be a part of this thing we’re doing. Here are some examples of skills and work areas that you might use:
- Copy writing
- Graphic design
- Day-of event help
- Project management
- Social media marketing
- Audio recording and editing
- Event organizing and promotion
- Outreach to potential partner organizations
- Thinking up creative ways of thanking people who deserve it
We meet twice per month on Tuesday evenings (1st and 3rd) and have occasional events outside of those times. Joining us for those meetings will be key, as will coming to our events to help out.
Ok, sounds great. How do I join?
